Found a 6-pack of this and the '99 Coriole Bordeaux blend buried in the cooler of my local retailer (names withheld to protect my purchasing power). He gave me a bottle of this and the '99 Coriole Mary Kathleen to try with the advice to come back next week and tell him what it's worth.

McLaren Vale, 14%, 75 year old vines. Open now 3 hours:

Color: bright deep garnet
Nose: a bit closed, black fruits, hints of grilled meat and pepper
Palate: kirsch, dark chocolate; well balanced acidity and soft tannins.

This is a wine of finesse more than your typical Aussie smack-down of late. I see this evolving another 5-8 years.

I say 92 points and $45. Parker says 93 and $70. We'll see.....
