| Tasted with ttepper at Christie's "The Classic Wines of Penfolds"
Ok.. now we are getting to the REALLY good stuff....
Nice amber color that still shows a dark reddish tint in the middle of the glass. Beautiful, thick, dark, olive, mushroom nose with well integrated oak. On the palate is a super well balanced, complex, integrated, "wow on the first sip" dark earthy fruit wine. Slightly sweet tannins, superior mouthfeel and a very long finish really round out this wine. Drink now, but has a few gorgeous years left for sure.
I absolutely loved this wine... what a treat.
RRI 96
Note: I also tried ttepper's pour of this wine. Definitely bottle variation as his wasn't as potent and powerful. Maybe a 92 pointer in his glass. Definitely not a wow. | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter.... |
