1999 Scotchman's Hill Bellarine Peninsula (Geelong) Pinot Noir -- pale ruby in color, certainly not too unusual in Pinot Noir; a lovely nose of candied cherry, rose petals, and spice; and it's all downhill from there. Bright acidity highlight the cherry flavors on the tip of the tongue, but it's hollow in the midpalate, with very fine tannins emerging on the finish and holding on beyond the fruit. App. 83-4 pts. Maybe beyond its optimal drinking time?

For comparative purposes, this is priced here just a couple of dollars less than Isabel Estate from New Zealand, but is clearly a big step down from that producer's Pinot Noir.
