The wine is from Barossa and is made by Ben Glaetzer for his father Colin. I believe Ben also has made wines for Tyrell's and Mitolo. I picked this up in Sydney for around $40.

Dark purple. Powerful nose of boot polish, anise, and cat-tail weeds. Thick and syrupy, but not a sticky-sweet shiraz. Flavors are more on the bitter side - black cherry, espresso and baking chocolate. Could use some more fruit. Then again, we tasted this right after the SQN "In Flagrante" and Pride Syrahs, which is a bit unfair. I was amazed at how "small" the Aussie shirazes seemed after drinking those two California monsters. 88P.

Cheers,

Otis
