Tasted as part of Aquila dinner/blind tasting on 12/8/02. Wine tasted from Riedel Vinum Bordeaux stems. Most people at the dinner disagreed w/ my assessment of this wine.

Nose is perfumed, but not showing much depth. Wine seemed to keep changing, open and then closed. In the mouth, prunes, plums and jammy w/ a hint of alcohol showing through. Not particularly well balanced. Moderate length. jb Rating 85

I agree with you ... about the disagreement.

This one was clearly a young Australian with a significant Shiraz component. It got our end of the table buzzing (with positive comments, that is). I gave it a 93 and WOTN.

Cheers, y'all

I am with Stemor on this 1. WOTN for me also, my wife, & all my friends.

Sweet Long Finish. Color is amazing deep Red. Aroma is wonderfully full & fruity.

I loved this Wine. Rating: 91.

I had this wine 6 times shortly after release and over the following year or so, I had split a case with my father for $19/Bottle. I liked this wine very much, it was always a consistant performer for everyday drinking. Drinking in the 87-89 point range each time.

This was my #1 (out of 6) last night.

This wine is great. Beautiful nose that I was convinced contained Viogner. Darkest wine of the night.

Huge extraction, sweet light vanilla oak, over-the-top red fruits, and a slightly spicy, soy sauce laden finish. Very grapey.

I'd be a buyer of this wine.

93 points.

The '99 is good also. We've been drinking it every couple of weeks because it works well with food.

Well it's interesting to see the varying opinions and ratings. I thought it was clearly the wotn. Since it was tasted blind I was sure it was something else. I brought it and did not expect it to be most everyones #1.

In the glass I think it was an Australian blend (but I assumed a differant one) just from it's color and nose. But for me a 93 pointer...a little better than Marquis Philips and a great QPR.
