From the Eden Valley region of Australia. Brought by a friend to dinner last night with kybo.

The Henschke seemed more like a cabernet sauvignon than a shiraz. There was a eucalyptus or mint streak running through the wine that suggested it would be an ideal pairing for lamb. Not as ripe as the '98 Barossa shirazes we tried. Although a tad uneven on the palate, this is obviously a classy wine, as suggested by its polished tannins. Should improve over the next 5-7 years. 91P.

Cheers,

Otis

Otis,

Mint is a very common descriptor in Eden Valley wines and the Cabernets are loaded with it, so finding it in a Shiraz from this area is no great surprise.

Cheers Ric
