Deep purple color. Surprisingly restrained, but there's plenty of blueberry, eucalyptus and vanilla to go around. It's just not totally over the top at all. Not sweet on the palate but very blueberry-fruity. Also not nearly as thick feeling as some of the recent Aussie wines I have tried (e..g Marquis-Phillips, Henry's Drive). While this was not nearly as fun to just sit and drink, it did go very well with my grilled lamb. The more restrained nature of this wine let the meal be a part of the experience rather than dominating it. Good value.

I had one of these recently, and agree it is a great value. I think I paid a little less, I found the 02 better than the 01. You are right it is no were near as extracted as the MP's however I think it is a little more structured to improve over time. I think these will improve nicely over the next couple of years, the last 01's I had a couple months ago were much improved over release.

I have a bunch of the '01s. Will open another soon to see how they are coming along. Thanks for the notes on the '02.
