From the NJ Offline at Tre Vigne on 6/28/03

2001 Mitolo Shiraz GAM
93 points – A big fruit bomb with hints of faint sweetness, this was a plush and supple majorly food-friendly wine (had this with the duck confit). I got sense of delicious must with loads of fruit with enough acidity and structure to make this wine work extremely well. I am very glad I bought some of this.

I almost popped one of these this weekend. Maybe I need to call MudPuppy again to secure a few more bottles.

I too found this to be delicious. Jake commented that it was a good thing that I had bought some as he thought his mother would enjoy it very much. I think this would go very well with food. While I preferred the Cape d'Estaing, I think this would be a better wine to have with a meal. Lots of fruit without being too jammy.

I have this in the cellar, but had yet to crack one before travelling to New Orleans for the Swamp 'n Grape. It was a delight indeed to try it - here are my notes:

Oh yea! Here’s a bomb, huge extracted nose showing blueberries and cream. Full and rich with layers of sweet, succulent fruit held up by nicely structured tannins and acidity. Great stuff, 93 points, drink over the next 2-3 years.

Another 1 of these babies. 93 sounds good to me. This was a Parker 94. Very good wine. Delivers the goods & the promise...

I had this again in both early August and this evening. It is outstanding. I fully stand behind my 93 point rating. Wonderful, wonderful wine.

Revisited this wine last night. It was showing lots of cola and mocha notes wrapped around a core of black fruit. Really well done and not over the top. I wish I had bought a few more of these, as I have a sneaking suspicion that this one should age out well.

I have only had this once (6 months back) and I thought it was delicious (following which I went and bought several). So now that I have several lying around, any suggestions for drinking windows? (If one of them falls exactly at poker time, that's perfect!)

I didn't decant it last night and after about 15 minutes (which brought it up from the cellar temp) it was drinking very well. I'd like to try this in say 6 or 7 yrs to see what shakes out. Arbitrarily, let's say 2005-2012.

We had a bottle of this last night. After reading the above notes, I'd guess I had an off-bottle, not a bad bottle. It was not the unctuous fruit bomb described in previous posts; it was restrained, balanced, and nice, about a 90 pointer.

Hmm, no TNs since 04. This is still a drink or a hold. No rush, no rush @ all, but with some air time, go for it.

A lovely bottle of wine, tonight a 92 pointer, & the bottle was gone was too fast. :-)
