| 2001 Heritage Barossa Valley Shiraz -- dense, inky color (just a shade darker than the Penny's); gives very little on the nose without some aggressive swirling, but then some berry fruit and cedar emerges; very full-bodied, already velvety, nice to swish around in mouth; plum, berry, licorice, vanilla flavors, with hints of dark chocolate; long, spicy, peppery finish with the fruit outlasting the fine tannins. A well-balanced wine with a clear future for this one. App. 91-2 pts. This cost C$30, and I will buy more.
I'm also looking forward to trying the '01 Rossco's Shiraz from the same producer, at $10 more. The shop where I bought these calls it Grange Junior.
I'm a sucker for hyperbole!

| Seaquam,
Both the Roscoe and the Heritage are nice wines and in Oz the Heritage is terrific value.
If they deleted the word "Grange" from the wine vocabulary, most stores would have nothing to say.

| Ric and Jeremy -- thanks for the laughs!
It is a really nice wine, and at its price point here, worth purchasing.

Yep there sure is. Both grow grapes less than 5 miles from a vineyard that supplies grapes for Grange so by definition they both must be world class wines that are vastly underpriced.
Seriously, yesterday on another forum some guy said the following
Quote:
...the 98 st peters..... I managed to get 4 cases at great prices. Given almost a case a way until I saw the big price increase....
i was in Melbourne last week on holiday, i saw someone buying 3 cases and had a casual chat with the guy. He told me that grapes from st peters vineyard had gone into grange 98 as well.
There is only oneslight tiny little insignificant problem with that statement of fact.
The St Peters Vineyard is in Victoria and all the fruit for Granges comes from South Australia but we wont let the fact that the vineyards are in different states and about 300 miles apart ruin a good story. | | Cheers Ric www.torbwine.com
