| 1997 GREENOCK CREEK BAROSSA brought by ojeffso. Dark and thick, this is one beautifully crafted wine. Blackberries, earth, balsa and some toasted oak. Moderate tannins and good balance. Long and sweet finish. Loved this wine. (RP 98) jb Rating 93

| Although I often wonder about RMP scores, I think this one is right on. We have included this wine in blind tasting of the high end Napa cabs and it always comes in the top 3.

| Bressler, Welcome to VinoCellar!
This was an excellent wine & part of a larger Cab tasting (with an unintentional ringer thrown in) back this past May. The wines poured were:
'95 Beringer Knights Valley Cab '97 Ferrari Carano Tresor '98 Maxwell Lime Cave '97 Greenock Creek '96 Flora Springs Trilogy (the ringer and WOTN by everyone) '99 Von Strasser Diamond Mountain '97 Renteria '93 Silver Oak
Everyone thought the Greenock Creek was the #2 Wine Of The Night. Great stuff.

| jb and bressler-i brought the greenock creek cab that night and was a little disappointed. i believe i rated it a 94 (still excellent), not parker's 98.
bressler-do you recollect against which california cabs it fared well .

| Where did the von Strasser rate that night?
I just added this to my list. Please don't tell me it was a bust.

| No, no, no. It is a fine/great Wine. I do Not remember the Rating. But, it was in the 90s. 1 thing about that WIne (supplied by Revlis), it was "Young". This Wine needs Time.
...And actually, you would be hard-pressed to find a Better Wine for the $$$ (QPR).
May be, someone else can remember the TNs.
I buy 6-8 bottles of this every year since '97.

| I had the Von Strasser at 88pts. Very good, but there was some stiff competition that night. The Trilogy was off the hook.

| In the tasting I remember best, we were doing '97 Napa Cabs. In theory, we should campare this with '98 Australian wines, but for a few producers like Greenock Creek and Torbreck (RIP), the '97s were their killer wines. (Greenock Creek seems to have picked too early in '98). My notes are that there was a group consensus dividing the wines into 3 buckets: 1. Greenock Creek, Maya, Bryant, Harlan 2. Colgin, Araujo, Karl Lawrence (Gary Morisoli) 3. David Arthur 1147, Screaming Eagle, Clark Claudon Of course, on any given night, people will vote differently. If we had an Abreu I believe it would have been in the first group, but we didn't. (Am I biased?)
This doesn't track with WS or RMP scores, but that is the beauty of blind tastings ;-)
