2004 Samuel's Gorge Grenache - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (5/18/2008)
Pop and pour, consumed over 4.5 hours. Dark black cherry in color, somewhat tight early on, but still releasing some nice red and black fruits, extraordinarily fine tanins, and notes of tar, cedar. As the evenining progressed there was a bit of alcohol evident on the nose that wasn't present upfront, cedar and black cherry were most notable flavors, but certainly not overpowering; wine became very well-integrated, and a great accompaniment to a roast chicken dinner. Would decant this if I could find any more of the wine, but this was my sole bottle and the only one on CT. 90pts.
