| The French oak version of the Stonewell.
Colour: dark thick red
Nose: Solid French oak notes with strawberry, vanilla, toasty aniseed, eucalypt and plum aromas.
Palate: Tannins were very firm with impressive length and finnish. Almost delicate in the finishing phase of the wine. Ppowerful but delicate.
Overall: Iron fist, velvet glove wine. 92 points.

I found this wine to have prune, blackberry and bordering on the dead fruit end of the spectrum, way way off strawberry end which is normally from a cooler year like 2000. Comments?

Don't know, I definately found it to be more open than closed and also more fruity than savoury. Maybe my nose. It was wine fourty seven on the list so that may have something to do with it.
The fact it had been open for almost three hours by the time I got to it may have had something to do with it. Who knows....
