2004 Glaetzer The Wallace Shiraz Grenache - Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley (1/3/2007)WIML90,PURPLE89,WA93,WS89
Tasted January 3, 2007 at home. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Dark garnet ot purple color in the glass, slightly cloudy looking. Nose of raspberries, blackberries, camphor and maybe some floral notes like violets. Flavors of sweet berries up front with some raspberry notes and just a bit of earthiness on the finish. Medium acidity with surprisingly soft tannins for such a young Aussie. Medium body. 14.5% alcohol but doesn’t seem quite that high while tasting. Certainly drinkable now mostly due to the 15% Grenache but should be interesting to follow of the next 5-7 years. Quite an interesting little wine and recommended at the $19.54 price point we paid locally.
