  • 2003 Glen Eldon Shiraz Dry Bore - Australia, South Australia, Barossa (11/30/2006)
Opened and poured without decanting. Aromas of plum, cranberry, smoked bacon, and cedar. On the palate, this wine exhibits lush plum and blueberry fruit, with a hint of vanilla. I was expecting some tartness because of the cranberry, but there wasn't any -- only a silky flow of fine drinking. If shiraz can be elegant, this would a great example of it. Although a bit different in texture and flavor from some of the Australian wines I've been drinking lately, I think this is a terrific wine at a very good price. (91 pts.)
