Decanted ½ hr. Strong, dense blueberry and mint nose. Predominately rich and concentrated blueberry and plum with a nice combination of secondary flavors of blackberry, pepper, spice, eucalyptus and tar. A touch sweet with a silky texture, polished tannins and some acidity, yet slightly thin on the back of the palate with a medium finish. Excellent Shiraz for the price. S93 10/5/2006 | | | |

| | Currently, decant for about an hour. Give these maybe another 6 months to a year to integrate a little better, but right now, I would say drink these over the next 5 years. At $25 per, I’ll certainly try another one in a few months. | | | |

Now that the fuss is over, I feel safe trying this wine. Initially tart and acidic upon opening, but after about an hour and a half in the decanter, it started to mellow out to become more round. Lush and festive nose of molasses, brown sugar, and holiday spices. Silky mouthfeel, elegant even, not at all syrupy or hot like some Australian Shirazes. Very balanced and multi-layered, with rich plum and dark chocolate notes, some molasses and blueberry on the midpalate, and finishing with touch of cranberry and cherry. Medium-full body. Medium acidity. All in all, a very nice, complex wine that will only improve with time and is a steal for the price. 92+ (92 pts.)

| | Tasted blind on December 23, 2006 with a really really really good buddy of mine Not knowing what the heck I was drinking...with the prominent fruit like that it had to be New World...a new world Aussie. The nose *ALMOST* seemed like it was corked but after palate tasting, there wasn't any hints of corkedness. The alcohol was balanced with the fruit. It was a pleasant drinking wine. Although I didn't feel like it was the 96 points that WS rated it, it was still a darn good wine. Highly recommended for short-term consumption (1-2 years) for the release price <$30...BD92 | | | |

| I have very little experience with Aussie wines but it just seems like it won't be able to hold up for more than a few years. The structure is not quite there.

Well, this wine was in the running for WOTY last year for WS. And, looking @ the posts above, I just don't see it. WS rated it a 96, 96 points that is.
This bottle was decanted & tasted over 4 hours. I purposely gave it plenty of time to come around, to get anything relating to 96 points from this bottle?!? It never came around, or this is it. There was nothing wrong with my bottle. It is a nice, simple wine is all. Nothing much going on, I don't see the hype, & there was a time last year it was selling for over $60 dollars per.
Tonight, 86 points, nice wine but that is about it. One can drink or hold it.
I have 3 more bottles, we will see in the future.
P.S.: I see the price for these drop some. One can get the 05 for about $15.00. And, that is what it is worth based on my bottle tonight. | | | |

| WS 96, & even in this thread the ratings range in the mid 90s to mid 80s. This bottle was better than the last bottle of 85-86 points. Tonight, 88 points & drink or hold. Nice bottle of wine. There was a time when this wine was in the running for the WS WOTY. Tonight, it did not disappoint, solid, tasty.

Hard to say but if I could throw my 2 cents in about the wine then I would have to agree that it was never a 96. I scored it in the low nineties, last bottle in 2007 was a 91 and seemed to give all it was ever capable of giving.
