This wine was part of an ex-heritage wine investment portfolio, recently released to the owner and put up to auction to try to recover a portion of their defunct investment (for details of this and many other failed wine investment scams see
http://www.investdrinks.org ). My first impressions were not positive, however, with some decanting, it was a totally different wine.
Generous flavours of chocolate and small berries are quite well balanced by toasty oak and hints of tobacco and spice. Medim bodied with finely grained tannins, it finishes quite long with a hint of green peppercorn and chocolate.
