Recently saw a blurb about this wine in the tasting note request section. The thoughts were not positive so I thought it was time to try one. Call it bottle variation or something else but this wine has always been good for me and this time was no exception. I think it is the best wine Sparky has made to date. Popped and poured the wine seemed a little out of balance then after an hour it was singing and drank well over two days with no sign of decline. The nose was constantly changing during the two days but it was always good with all the tell tale aussie shiraz features and the palate was excellent. I would buy more if I could find it at a good price. Also tried a bottle of the 98 Fox Creek JSM. I remember thinking this wine went into a hole for a while after its youth but right know it is also drinking great. I really think the blend with Shiraz, Cab and Cab Franc works great together. A little lighter in style then the Reserve shiraz (if you can say that about a Sparky wine) but a nice perfume on the nose and well balanced.
