I bought six of these for around $15 USD. Rated as one of the best Sparkling Shiraz out of Aussie by James Haliday, and my first real expirience with a wine made purely for this. Alot of Sparkling Shiraz is made with free run juice as a way to save any wastage.

Drank late last night with Ms J, at room temperature ( I'm a heathen I know) out of Riedel Champagne Flutes, probably should have been Bordeuax stems in retrospect.

Colour: Vibrant plum red (not the Doris plums the other ones.) with heaps of CO'2 expression.
Nose: Powerful portish nose gives away to leather, spiced cherry and aniseed. Slightly bitter red wood bark notes as well. Hints of mushroom and chocolate.
Palate: Very powerful, great texture and palate feel, length is excellent exhibiting the evervescent bubbles intergrating with the acids. Tannins are powerful and overt, but the CO2 softens their drying effect. Very warm wine. Long finish that just goes on and on.
Overall: A power house of a wine. Initial tasting reminded me of D'Arenburg's 98 Footbolt with bubbles. The chocolate and spiced notes dominate that much. 89 Points on the Jeremy Scale, but as I am not very expirienced in these wines take that as a grain of salt.

13 and a half percent bubble?!?! That'll be a BIG hit on first dates.
