2004 Shirvington Shiraz - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (5/26/2006)
WIML92,WA95,NOWS

Tasted May 26, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served about an hour later in a Riedel Vinum Cabernet Sauvignon glass. Violet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of expresso, blueberry, dark chocolate and crushed dark fruits. Big chewy flavors of black berries and black licorice dominate in this youthful wine. Surprisingly well integrated tannins at the moment with a young and vibrant acidity. I’m not quite as pleased with this wine as previous vintanges but it should still be quite a good wine with more time in bottle. Hold at least 5 years before trying again. Based on the $62.04 per bottle local retail price I’d say the value here is acceptable. (92 pts.)
