2005 The Winner's Tank Shiraz - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Langhorne Creek (5/26/2006)WIML84,NOWA,NOWS
Tasted May 26, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served about an hour later in a Riedel Vinum Cabernet Sauvignon glass. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of rubber tires (are there any other kind?) with some black berries and briar patch hiding in there. Flavors of black cherries, Bing cherries, plums, allspice and bit of bitters. Velvety tannins believe it or not with a fresh acidity as well. Short to medium finish. Drink over the next 2-3 years. Based on the $13.59 per bottle local retail price I’d say the value is cautiously acceptable. If this things resolves itself in the bottle over the next year it could gain several points and become and recommended to highly recommended value.
