2003 Ravenswood Shiraz “Vintners Blend”. South Eastern Australia, Australia. 14.5% alcohol. $10.
This is the first ever Aussie wine from Ravenswood and based on how it tastes it probably should be the last. It has plenty of color and flat aromas of plum, mint, wood, and very tart cherry berry (they acidified this wine to death). Decent length. I really expect more from Joel Peterson but perhaps on the Vintners Blend line the Suits’ need to make a buck takes precedence over quality. Drink now. 78 points.
