| Tasted at the Parsec Cup Syrah tasting in Frisco on 5/3/03.
Pepper and blackberry on the nose that just jumps out at you. In the mouth, vanilla and sweet oak dominates, with a sublime mouthfeel. This wine has a medium to full body, with excellent concentration. Very long finish, where more of the pepper and spice kicks in.
This wine was ranked first by two of the tasters, and second by a third (out of six). With the scoring system used, this wine finished second for the night. However, after the scores were tallied, this is one of the two wines everyone kept going back to. One hour after tallying, all but one taster thought this was the best or second best wine of the tasting. Just shows what a little extra airtime can do for this wine at this stage of its life. I would recommend 3-4 hours of decanting, or hold for a few more years. I am glad I have more of this wine, it will be fun to follow its progress through the years.
