2001 Massena Moonlight Run - $25 per bottle $138 for a 6 pack
This is a fantastic red blend that Australia make so well, and this is better than most! A blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro and Cinsault, this is a powerful, fruit driven GSM blend of the highest quality. It was clearly a favourite of the panel based on quality, and even better when the price was considered. The nose is just wonderful, a mix of liquorice, blackberry, mulberry mingled with spicy anise hints, and chocolate undertones ... yum. The palate follows through well, long, deep, smooth and seamless on the palate, fruit driven with admirably restrained oak use, and lovely long ripe tannins. Gorgeous one of the panel said, and I agree. Classy wine indeed, and an absolute bargain, will age really well! Highly recommended.
