Always a wine to split people, either you love it our you hate it – I loved it, and this was the best sparkling Shiraz I have ever had. Really interesting, with wonderfully sweet fruit, sweet tannins, and (obviously) a lively palate. Notes of cherries and dusty raspberries, a fun wine and a real delight – thanks Bob!

You loved it! Bob loved it! I thought it was just ok.

You are right on when you say "dusty". I guess I want my sparklers to be more "bright".

I know it isn't fair to compare this with a Champagne but if you ask me it is not easy not too. I think that was my big problem. I'll take a nice bottle of Champagne everytime.

I know... that means just more for you.

Eric. Do you know which disgorgement it was ?

If you like the ozzy red sparklers try some of the old Seppelts Sparling shiraz. The cheap as chips Original sprkling shiraz ages wonderfully. Also the E&E black pepper sparkling shiraz can be magnificent in certain years.

It was disgorged in 2000. (Of course, they must use a 1 point font to tell you this, so I might be wrong...)

Ah; you got the bottle with the "big print" for old farts.

The 2000 disgorgement was OK (I bought quite a few) but if you find the 04, grab them! The 04 is the best I have tasted in this line up.
Cheers Ric
