Violently decanted, and tasted tannic, backward and even slightly sour upon opening. 4 hours later, this is a different animal altogether. Deep color, slightly cloudy. Glycerin and licorice on the nose; berry flavors are presently overpowered ever-so-slightly by the fine tanins, which leave a very long and dry finish. Much more sophisticated than most shiraz', I'll allow my remaining bottles to sit for 2-4 years before retrying. Throwing off considerable amounts of very fine sediment in the bottom 1/4 of bottle. Stand up for a day prior to opening, and decant for 4-6 hours to fully enjoy at present. A great $45 wine, I'd buy more. (94 pts.)
