| Notes from an Australian Shiraz tasting, held April 8th, 2003
Dark purple color with a bluish hue at the edges, this wine has immediate appeal with a huge nose of brambly fruit, vanilla, and spice. Rich, spicy, and jammy, with fine ripe tannins and terrific balance. American oak is noticeable, but well integrated, a terrific wine which will benefit from some short term cellaring, my #1 of the flight, 92 points, drink now-2006+ (note, this was also the overwhelming winner by vote, though this was the only flight for which we took a vote) | | | 2008: the end of an error |
