The nose exploded with copious dark fruit and baked apple aromas, followed by jammy flavors of plums, dark berries, and a little chocolate. There's a bit of youthful roughness to this wine. A year or more in the bottle should help. 92 now

I had this last week.

Interesting note -- the '02 was a screwtop and the '03 is back to a cork.

I'm actually glad I got a chance to, in a very small way, repay you for all the help you've given me.

2003 Oliverhill Shiraz Jimmy Section - Australia, South Australia, McLaren Vale (10/1/2005)
Decanted an hour. Nice nose of ripe and dried fruits. Not what I was expecting. Not the fruit bomb I was expecting. This was a nice wine with plenty of fruit, leather, vanilla and tobacco flavors. The alcohol was a little too prevalent during the first half glass or so, but seemed to settle down. RP rates this one higher than the '02. I rated the '01 at 93pts. Still a very nice wine! 92pts. (92 pts.)

$30.00, Retail.

Decanted 30mins, tasted over 2 hours.

A good amount of info posted above. I was not as impressed as the posters above. And, I am nowhere near Parker's 94 points. Nice bottle of wine that is good to drink now or cellar for the short term (2-3 years).

A very nice bottle of wine, but not much more than that. I have 2 more bottles that will be gone in 2-3.

Thanks Board_O for buying these for me.

Rating: 89 points, drink or hold.

2003 Oliverhill Shiraz Jimmy Section - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (3/25/2007)
Splash decant, and allowed to sit for 45 mins. Purple-black, tossed off considerable sediment (discarded bottom 2+" of juice).
Tons of blueberry, a little leather and earth with a hint of spice in the background. Great mouthfeel, with a nice coating of the palate and a lingering 20 second finish, but not overpowering in any respect. Really Good! This improved dramatically over the 2.5 hour drinking window, and really hit its stride 90 minutes after decanting. (92 pts.)

Nice and somewhat soft for a young shiraz. Tobacco and earth notes, with nice berry flavors, but relatively thin and/or watery compared to the fruit bomb I was expecting. At $30 (my purchase price), I'd still buy more, but I wouldn't plan on holding for an eternity. (92 pts.)
