Tasted 3/6 Zaytinya's by glass

I am not silly enough to order a whole Greek bottle of wine, but I am adventurous.

Color: Violet
Aromas: Forward plum and licorice
Flavor: A berry surprise with both blueberry and black cherry with some chocolate and strawberry. Subdued tannins.

This is a Merlot-Grenache like grape apparently very common in the red clay hills of Nemea near Corinth of the Peloponnesis of Southern Greece. This is a small artisanal producer who makes primarily these wines. I suspect this would appeal as a table wine to fruit driven California wine lovers, made to drink now with the lamb tomato dishes. While simple, this is a medium bodied wine that is balanced and nymphoid...pleasureable but not substantive.
