87 IWC; Winetex 87; $50

This is a single vineyard Barbera. It had a spicy nose with cherry notes. In the middle it had raspberry and underlying spice and finished with a tannic edge. It was very smooth but not very complex. The weight was similar to an average Chianti.

I was rather disappointed in this wine given its high price point. It did not taste like Barberas we’ve had in the past. Mr. Winetex thought it was one of our under $20 Chiantis which was a problem. I definitely overpaid as the going price is around $36.

Ouch! A $50 Barbera that didn't deliver... another good Barbera to try would be Clerico, and La Spinetta. The Clerico has more new oak, and the La Spinetta is a wonderful, jammy/spicy Barbera. Both can be had for around $20
