93 IWC; 91 Winetex points; $37 It was a deep ruby with a nose of raspberry, cedar and spices. The flavors were blackcurrant, fig and a bit of earthiness. The wine had serious aromatics and a long finish. It had strong acids, tannins and was balanced. It was clearly too young but matched wonderfully with the food. Aged 24 months in French oak. It was a successful “try and buy” as I will probably buy a couple of more bottles for short-term aging. If anyone knows what varietal this is please speak up. I could not find any information on it other than Tanzer’s review.

Winetex: This is an Aglianico. Had this at a restaurant on 6/14. I would say this is ready to go. Lots of secondary characteristics with some Bordeaux-like leather and earth. If you did buy some additional bottles as your post above suggests, you might want to give this another try.

Nothing like having your question answered four years later. Thanks Jimmyv! If I remember correctly I did go back and buy another bottle, tried it and it was corked. Didn't feel like messing with any more bottles after that...
