$21CAD
From Veneto

Dark ruby/garnet colour. Aromas of chocolate, black cherries, wet earth, and blackcurrant. Medium-bodied; tart cherries and red fruit on the palate. High acidity, present tannins. Has the acidity of a Barbera. Showed more balance on second day, but definitely not characteristic of a Valpolicella Ripasso. I was definitely expecting more from Farina's single-vineyard offering after enjoying many bottles of his '99 normale. I hope this is not representative of the quality in his other 2000 bottlings. 83 points (11/29/2003).
