Had this a couple times over the course of the week (Christmas Eve and again on Boxing Day). I'll post my notes from a few months ago as a comparison:
12/24/2002:
Dark ruby red to pink/violet rim. Gorgeous nose of raisins, cherries, plums and a bit of spice. Medium-full bodied with dark crushed fruit and now well-integrated oak and tannin. Smooth, lingering finish with a hint of mocha. Ready now, drink over the next 1-2 years. 88 points
9/17/2002:
Dark ruby red, to a pink/violet rim. Nice legs. Huge nose with cinnamon, coffe, earth and cherry tones. Super concentrated for a valpolicella (hence, ripasso), with nice dark fruits and a slight coffee finish. Needs a few more months for the oak to blend a little more with the fruit, but I thoroughly enjoyed this wine. Will drink well over the next 1-2 years. Awesome QPR for less than $13. 88 points. | | |
