| Tasted last night at Dinner w/Doc at Olivetto:
Lovely, soft perfumed nose of black cherries, earth, and light spice accents. In the mouth high acidity is balanced by elegant layered fruit and fine meshed tannins, finishing just a bit short. 90 points. | | | 2008: the end of an error |

| This was my WOTN. Lots of spice and cherries on the nose with a little bit of bricking in color. Plenty of complexity on the palate. The best part of it was Doc got this one for under $40 USD! | | | |

| interesting EW:
last i had this, about two months ago, it seemed a bit tired, not as lively as in the past. i was wondering if it was past it's prime. the 93 certainly did. perhaps i had the off bottle. i've got 4 remaining, so i'll hold out hope it hasn't hit the downward slope yet. i still don't think it has years of life left, the tannic structure is pretty well integrated and i don't think it will improve any further.

My suggestion would be to drink them sooner rather than later.

| I'm with Lafon on the drinking window. It was interesting to taste an off-vintage Ornellaia, but I thought the herbal elements in this wine really held it back. Doc got a nice buy at $35, but I really feel for the folks who paid normal Ornellaia prices. Anything over $50, and I'd be very disappointed. | | | |

| For an off vintage and for the $35 that I paid, I think it was a nice bottle. Much better than the few reviews that I have seen by the critics. I would give it 88-89 points for now. I picked up 4 more at the price. Maybe time has evolved the wine in the bottle.
