Let me start off by saying this bottle was the best bottle of Merlot I've ever had from Italy! The nose, straight off gave a Medoc like scent of gravelly earth, but behind that lay a wonderful bed of intoxicating potpourri, spice and flowers, red berries, _mocha, and a touch of leather. The palate was full and round, with a texture I can only imagine as like liquid suede, not silk because it has more substance, more fortitude, but nonetheless sumptuous. The flavors wash over with warm red fruits, it speaks of an almost clay like earthiness and some liquid sandalwood. It definitely has structure to improve over the next 5-7 years and will continue to impress wine lovers from then on.
