'97 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis.

This wine was a knock out! What a beautiful perfume of flowers, reminiscent of roses, with deep black cherry, cassis, a note of pomegranate, some light gravelly character, maybe a touch of bitter chocolate and sweet oak. It is so "in your face" it could be mistaken as a "new world" wine, it even smells dense. The palate is wonderfully polished like, it sends notes of berries, vanillin, cedar and sweet earth to the brain. For being so dense with flavor the wine carries itself across the palate quite delicately. This is not to say it is a light wine but it is well balanced. Terrific flavor and finish, truly impressive, this bottle will truly improve for another 7-10 years.
