Rosse del Sebino “Maurizio Zanella” Ca’del Bosco 1997 (Lombardia)

A sense of barnyard quickly dispersed into dark funky fruits. A tannic super thing, I got bits of violets, slight pepperiness, a hint of slate and loads of dark fruit. Tannins still need time to settle down on this a bit, I think, but they have settled enough to not overpower the wine or the food paired with it. This stood up very well to the Bolognese it was paired with. I sensed a bit of what I call ‘slipperiness’ in this, kind of what I think of when drinking Cab-based wines. It’s hard to explain. It all ends us with a sage-laced long finish.

TJ Rating = 91-92

This was from my "Babbo Experience" on 11/16/2002.
