2001 Il Poggione (Roberto Franceschi) Brunello di Montalcino - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (5/15/2008) WIML91,PURPLE91
Tasted May 15, 2008
No formal notes. Popped and poured. Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Little bit of Bunello funk on the nose when first poured giving way to some nice notes of black berries, leather and a little florals. Flavors of black cherries and berries. Good acidity and tannins, medium body. Still pretty youthful but I'd say it's open for business or can be held as desired. PURPLE says "I thought it was a little tight but good acidity, nice strawberry, bright cherry. Went very well with the steak, 91 pts" (91 pts.) |
