  I opened this bottle after a 1998 Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne that was shut down pretty tight, and this wine performed admirably. Taut and silky, with dark fruits on the palate with a perfumed nose which showed some notes of rusticity as the evening wore on - a pretty good performance out of the bullpen for this wine, especially for $25! (88 pts.)
