2004 Bruno Giacosa Barbera d'Alba - Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba (6/8/2007) 89+; Dark clear ruby in color with a purple cast; After a 30 minute decant this wine had very interesting meaty and smoky aromas. The flavors included dark fruit with a touch of jamminess. It was well-balanced and opened up considerably with over the course of two hours. I'm not sure I really cared for the initial flavor profile but it improved with food. This wine is young and has room to improve. [~$35 on release; Decanted 30 minuted and needed it; Maybe buy again] (89 pts.)
