| I've had this standing up for about 3 weeks, so striking as it is I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at the clarity of this wine after decanting, despite the significant sediment left in the bottle. The color is a core of crystal clear ruby with significant orange hues to edge.
After decanting for about 2 hours the nose presents with a soft, lovely array or sweet spices, strawberries, damp earth, and perfumed flowers. Soft and elegant on the palate, with some tannins that are further softened by the pasta dish with which this was served, excellent bracing acidity, and while not incredibly deep, it has enough layers to keep one coming back sip after sip to see what it will do next. A really lovely wine. | | | 2008: the end of an error |
