Decanted for 45 minutes...

Nose of black raspberries, cassis, bramble, brown spice, maybe a hint of blueberry and tar.

Palate is a little more austere than the nose might suggest. Which is not to say it is austere, just more so than the grape or nose would suggest -- almost more young CA-Cabernet like in certain ways. Lots of purple fruits and lots of fine tannin on a surprisingly long finish. This might actually benefit from a year in the bottle? 92+

La Spinetta's '04 Barberas are across the board excellent examples of the new style of Barbera and are all worth seeking out. I'm not certain either this or the Bionzo is worth twice the basic bottling, but they are both better.
I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland.
