| "Audouzed" for about 8 hours before pouring, I smelled it on opening and there was some serious funk going on. The 8 hours helped.
Clear ruby/orange in color, the first thing I notice on the nose are those classic tar notes. As the wine continues to change in the glass notes of roses become more evident, along with sweet strawberries and an odd twang of rhubarb. On the palate the wine is a delight, integrated and balanced, with notable acidity keeping it lively, fully integrated tannins, and an almost surprisingly persistent finish. I wouldn't call this "great", but it is very good, and a fun wine to sit down and share between just the two of us. | | | 2008: the end of an error |
