TJ points = 87

Tasted these out of Spigelau Bordeaux stems. Paired it with Pasta Plus pizza. I did not decant this wine. It was bacsically a drink & pour.

Medium violet dark color. No legs to speak of, well, REALLY slow tiny millipede like legs if you can call them that. Not too shabby. This wine had a really incredible nose at first. It blew off after about 20 minutes, but it really wowed me with macerated sour cherries and, I know this is gonna sound weird, but easter egg/food coloring. This later devolved to delectable cherries, some floral notes and allspice. This wine had a good mouth-coating feeling, but still has some good acidity to not make it cloying. Tannins are fine, but definitely there in the background. This wine evoked more of the cherries, balanced by some nice vanilla and spices. Nice finish.

I am bad at keeping record of the prices and stuff, but, if I remember correctly, it was not too expensive. If I had to guess, it was in the $18-20 range.

I had a bottle of this in December - I remember enjoying it a lot - a 90pt wine for me. My notes: med/full-bodied with a touch of vanilla.

My wine shop said that this bottle had some variation - awesome in one bottle and uninspiring the next. I experienced similar bottle variation with Ciacci's Rosso di Montalcino - the first was nothing special, the second was very elegant and aromatically complex - of course, it's only 2 bottles - I have 1 more to try sometime later this year.

I am trying to be a bit harsher in my scoring these days, jaimetown. This was a very good wine, but I would not lump it into 'excellent', which starts at 90 points. There's room for improvement on this, too. Alas, I only bought one of these to fill out a case at MacArthur's...

I loved the 99 Pertimale, and have had pretty good notes on the 2000. One thing I know, is that I love Ciacci but was unimpressed with a bottle of rosso i had about 6 months ago, very very tannic, and lacking fruit. but everything may have changed over the last few months, who knows???
