Consistently one of my favorite Barolos, this is very young but the fruit is showing through a bit.

The nose is meat-y, reminds me of a roasted lamb, with tar stemming from the oak and good dark berry notes. The palate has these same characterisitics. There is almost none of the crushed asprin medicinal quality that I associate with some Piedmonts. The tannin and acid are blocking the fruit from completely shining through, but I really enjoyed this a lot despite. Long finish with lots of fine tannins. Drinkable now with lots of air (cork was popped the night before then immediately re-inserted) this will be best in about 5 years and then last another 5+ after that. 93(+)

Like Spinetta and Sandrone, Clerico makes great wines that are often, within the context of Piedmont, considerably more 'internationally-sytled' than other producers. The Barolo Pajana tends to be a good example of this. Nonetheless, this is decidedly Italian and happily so.
I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland.
