| This is a Nebbiolo/Barbera/Cabernet(?)/etc Piedmont blend.
Slight burt rubber (but in the best way) on the nose with asphalt, chocolate, black raspberries, black cherries, saddle leather, and brown spice -- all of that said, it is more austere on the nose than that description would let on. Seamless transition to the palate where, again, all of those flavors are present, but the wine remains decidedly not flamboyant. The finish is long with lots of medium-fine tannins. There is enough acid in this to cut right through the tomato and wine based sauce on a braised lamb shank. This is a wine for Italin/Piedmont lovers -- those who prefer lower acid/more obvious wines will not 'get' this. But I did. 91.5 | | I can't listen to that much Wagner.
