| 2004 Elio Altare Dolcetto d'Alba - Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba (10/2/2006) Purchased this $20 red after being recommended by a wine merchant whom I trust highly. Upon opening, the wine is very generously aromatic with loads of red and black fruit, pine and earth notes. Flavors are broad and quick to flood the midpalate with rich tones of blackberry liquer, coffee, mineral, creamy cranberry and spice. Medium-full body, being closer to full. Finishes with more lush fruit and just enough acid to hold the wine in balance. Decent complexity, but more of a pleasure wine. Consumed over two evenings, being slightly better on day 1. Drinking well now. 88+ pts Posted from CellarTracker | | |
