Winetex 93 points; 94-95 RWP; $??

This Barolo was brought to dinner a few weeks ago by TMortimer. I'm not sure I've had a good Barolo before and definitely not one as well-aged as this one. It was his last one of the bunch.

What a beauty it was - I was suprised by the tar component on the nose and in the middle. It had an outrageous nose with tar, tobacco and raspberry jam. Tmortimer mentioned that he was getting rose petals, something that he had found in previous bottles of this wine. The incredible structure also suprised me - it was so defined and extracted. A great long floral, tar and cherries finish.

A WOW wine. Goodness help me if I get the Barolo bug...

My pitiful baby super-tuscan was embarrassed to be at the same table as this bad boy.

Thanks for the TN, Winetex.

An aged Barolo is an incomparable experience. The only good part about growing older is knowing that I hung another year of age on my stash of Piedmonts.

Glad you had a positive experience with this bottle. I have one bottle of 1990 Ceretto Bricco Asili Barbaresco in the cellar. WS rated it 79P and Parker gave it 90P. Your TN lifts my hopes.

Have a nice weekend,

Otis

Good luck Otis! Now that's a wide discrepancy in scores. Hopefully you will end up on the high end.

Tell me about it. I've been bitten by a little Barolo bug lately myself (see tasting noteshere ).

The last bug that bit me was a Port bug. May the Lord help me if I should be bitten by yet another expensive wine bug.
