Tasted March 29, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel restaurant series stem. Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of scorched earth, crushed black berries and a touch of eucalyptus. Flavors of raspberry, red currants, cherries and a touch of earth. Slightly drying tannins and a shorter than expected finish. | | Pale burgundy, orangish color with a medium minus nose of earth, smoke, cassis and spices. Medium to medium plus body, medium intensity and medium to medium plus acidity. On the palate the nose is reflected with some red fruits added to the mix. The wine is in balance but I was left expecting more. Not recommended taking price into consideration. | | | |

| 2000 Tenuta Guado al Tasso (Antinori) Bolgheri Superiore - Italy, Tuscany, Bolgheri, Bolgheri Superiore (6/1/2007)

Tasted June 1, 2007 at an offline. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Dark purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of black berries, black currants and plums. Flavors of black licorice, plum and black berries. Also picked up on a little cocoa. Medium acidity, medium tannins, medium to full body. Good balance. Drink or hold. NOTE: I took this wine home and tasted it again 24 hours later. The wine took on Amarone like qualities on the nose and palate with lots of black licorice notes. Excellent. Should be long lived in my humble opinion. Upgrading my previous rating by two WIML points. (92 pts.) | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |
