Medium-dark garnet colour. Pretty nose of tar, cherry, violet, currant, orange rind, smoke. Medium-full bodied, with replays from nose. Very fine tannins. Long finish, outstanding wine that will reward a minimum of 4-5 years of cellaring. 93 points (08/27/2005).

Gianluca Grasso is coming to our store on Friday. We are having a dinner featuring his wines at Tre Vigne that night. He is an excellent winemaker who deftly blends new and old world sensibility. You should try the '99 Runcot. It is outstanding. Glad you liked the Ginestra.

It was a very enjoyable wine and will only get better. We don't get many of Elio's wines here in Ontario. If we do, they generally get sold privately through in importer in case lots - too rich for my blood.

I agree with you guys on this one - it was a highly enjoyable wine. Our bottle may have been further along. We bought it just last year so its storage was probably less than ideal.

Clear dark garnet in color; A still primary Barolo with an awesome nose of red fruit, spices and smoke. Very balanced and superb with food. This wine was also a good deal for quality Barolo at about $35. [Drinking well now but could hold for years; Decanted about 1 hour] (92 pts.)

$35 for that wine is a steal. Glad you enjoyed it.

JB - that's what we thought too.

Futronic - this was one of the bottles we bought that day the group attacked Binny's in Chicago. After all of the deep dish pizza that went down I'm surprised we bought anything at all.

Lol! Yes, I agree that $35 is a steal. How *anyone* can think after the quantity of deep dish pizza consumed that afternoon is beyond me!

Glad it was a good bottle for you!
