Plum, leather, earth, cherry and baked fruits. Medium body, medium plus intensity, and medium plus acidity. More earthy elements and roasted fruits on the palate. Balanced, in need of 3-5years. 90pts.

Jason,

I've had this a couple times now, most recently when Board-O was in town. It was so tight that I didn't even bother rating it. My notes on both tastings can be found here.

A nice wine just entering its drinking window.  Well-priced from Premier Cru last year at ~$38.

The best bottle of three. The integration was better with this bottle. Interesting and good wine but I swear there is some cab in this 100% Sangiovese wine. A good food wine - try with meat. (91 pts.)

Considering that the only varietals that the Fiores grow are Sangiovese (Il Carbonaione), Merlot (Piantonaia), and now a tiny bit of Chardonnay (can't remember the name), it's highly unlikely that any Cab makes it in there at all. Note that the clone they use, Lamole, is an ancient clone that is significantly different in profile and texture than most other Sangiovese clones planted in the area. The vines are also very also, with many in the 60-80 year range.

The color was pretty dark as well. It would be a tough blind pick. I saw that you had a note on this but search could not find it.
